Recensie
Dit boek kwam ik tegen bij het Boekenfestijn en hoewel ik niet gelijk doorhad waar het verhaal over ging, intrigeerde de omslagtekst en de titel me wel, dus besloot ik het boek mee te nemen. Ik denk dat ik het verhaal misschien nog een keer moet lezen, want het is vrij… vaag wat nu precies de onderliggende boodschap is.

Het is een gek verhaal. Het gaat over een gemeenschap waar dingen nogal… gek zijn. De astronomer heeft een telescoop om naar de sterren te kijken, maar hij moet zijn wekelijkse sixpence daarvoor gebruiken. De dirigent is eigenlijk helemaal niet muzikaal en de koning die alle beslissingen maakt, komt nooit opdagen naar besprekingen. Ik vind het een interessante setting en interessante personages. Het gehele verhaal is nogal Kafka-esk, behalve dat het bij Kafka altijd duidelijk is dat het verhaal op de een of andere manier kritisch is naar de maatschappij. Hier heb ik dat niet gevoel niet direct.
Je gaat in het verhaal mee, ook omdat het best wel snel leest. Je wil gewoon weten wat je nu eigenlijk aan het lezen bent.

Ik vond het verhaal interessant, al weet ik niet zo goed wat ik er mee aan moet. Heeft iemand van jullie dit misschien gelezen? Ik wil graag jullie gedachten horen!
